Costa del Sol Hotels Offer Rooms to Ukraine Refugees

Hoteliers on the Costa del Sol are showing their support to Ukrainian refugees by offering them rooms in their hotels. A total of 350 rooms have been made available to refugees and this is hoped to increase to one thousand across Malaga in the next few days.

This is not the first time that hoteliers on the Costa del Sol have shown support in the midst of a crisis. They did this during the Covid-19 outbreak and are repeating this now after Russia has invaded Ukraine.

The Association of Hoteliers of the Costa del Sol (Aehcos) has provided rooms for Ukrainian refugees and they are working with the Spanish Confederation of Hotels and Tourist Apartments (Cehat) to do this.

The 350 rooms have been estimated to be available for stays and they will remain available for a minimum of one week. In saying that, Aehcos have said they hope that in the coming days, thousands of rooms are made available to provide emergency help and temporary stays to the initial refugees who arrive in the Malaga province.

The war is expected to result in around four million refugees. It is also presumed that Spain will be one of the possible destinations Ukrainian refugees flee to.
