Opening of Malaga Reservoir Gates Causes Car to be Swept Down River

Emergency services were called to rescue a driver last week after he drove down a lane that crossed the Campanillas river only to be swept away by the water. He was with his dog and they were both unharmed when they were rescued.

The incident occurred last Thursday morning and it was called in by a witness. The witness claimed it occurred following the opening of the Malaga reservoir gates. Officers from the local and national police, the Guardia Civil, and the fire brigade all rushed to the scene to help.

They discovered the driver had already been helped out of the vehicle by people in the area. The fire brigade then proceeded to remove the car from the river. While the car was left slightly damaged, both the man and his dog were unhurt.
