Early ending to El Oceano Summer Season

The luxury El Oceano Hotel and Restaurant in La Cala de Mijas revealed plans to close their doors as early as September 14th this year.

The decision comes as a result of the ongoing pandemic affecting tourism in the area and guests staying at the four-star hotel along the Costa del Sol.

On their website, they said, “It is with great regret that – in light of the current situation with flight restrictions & quarantine – El Oceano Hotel has taken the unprecedented decision to wind up the 2020 Season early”.

While the hotel maintained that their sanitation standards are and always have been “second to none”, the coronavirus has changed the nature of their business. They said, “We genuinely feel we have ‘gone the extra mile’ to accommodate both our fabulous guests and the strict regulations regarding Covid.”

Throughout their 2020 Summer Season not one staff member had tested positive, all who were regularly tested. “All that said, some things are out of our control,” the hotel said.

El Oceano acknowledged their guests, wishing them well and thanking them for a “Wonderful (albeit very short) Season”. They said, “Stay safe everyone! We’re looking forward to welcoming you in April 2021!!”

On Sunday the 13th of September, El Oceana Hotel will host their “finale”. Although there are not many tables left, they invite guests to come along and say “¡Nos vemos pronto!” with them.

Phone them at (+34) 952 587 550 or email the address info@oceanohotel.com. After their closure, their phone lines will not be monitored, but they will be online and active on their email and website.

El Oceano Hotel will re-open next summer in April 2021.
